What We Do
Mac OS X Development
Use a Mac? We do too! Not only do we use nothing but Macs at the Second Gear offices, but we also develop and update Mac OS X based applications using Apple's Cocoa frameworks. We're able to leverage Core Data, WebKit, Quicktime and even new Leopard technologies such as Core Animation.
Want to automate a tedious process? We can help using AppleScript, RubyOSA or Automator.
iPhone Development
The iPhone is the fastest growing mobile phone platform on the market today. We can help your company develop either a Web-based or native iPhone application using Apple's new iPhone SDK. Not sure what type of application you need? We can walk you through the process from idea all the way to implementation.
Ruby on Rails Development
Ruby on Rails is a powerful framework that allows for rapid Web application development. Using Rails, we can develop a solution that meets your business's needs quickly than other development languages or frameworks. We have been using the Rails framework since the fall of 2004 to build not only our in-house solution such as Porchlight, but also all of our client's Web applications.
Our Stuff
Today
Today is a Mac OS X application to keep track of your daily appointments and tasks stored in both iCal and Apple Mail. Today resides in your Dock or menu bar and shows you what's on today’s agenda quickly. You can even create new events or tasks with Today: no iCal required!
Porchlight
Porchlight is a hosted issue tracker that brings simplicity and focus back to issue tracking. It makes it easy to keep tabs on the features that need to be implemented and the issues that need to be resolved in your software projects. We created Porchlight because we couldn't find a bug tracking solution that works the way we wanted it.
Check Off
Check Off is a to-do list that sits in your Mac's menu bar. Simply click the check mark and your personal to-do list will drop down. Check Off is a 100% native Mac OS X application with over 7,000 active users.
Getting StartED with Mac OS X
New to the Mac? Wanting to get a head start with Mac OS X Leopard, the latest version of the Mac operating system? Second Gear's Crew Chief Justin Williams's new book introduces the Mac platform and all the new features in Mac OS X Leopard. You can purchase a copy from Amazon.com.
